What do you call an orange wine that loves to gossip?
A juicy storyteller!

Bar Bandini | Echo Park, CA
Occasionally, I search for places in Los Angeles, specifically in my area, to sit back, enjoy a beverage, and work. On these days, I work on my child: Maison Mango, the social club I am aiming to share with fellow Angelenos.
On a special day like today, I prefer to work in areas where I feel completely comfortable living in for a couple of hours. Today, I chose a place I have visited once before—Bar Bandini. A small bar that sits hidden on Sunset Blvd in Echo Park, it’s open on Sundays from 3 PM until 2 AM. It’s a place where I can feel comfortable enough to enter by myself and wind down from the exterior pressures of society. All the mingling that may happen in another bar and all the chaos of a café are absent in this sanctuary.
With fellow customers muttering in the distance and a playlist with soothing sounds playing on rotation, there is no other wine bar on the East Side that I recommend more. There’s no shortage of outlets or entertainment. If you choose a small momentary distraction, there’s a band that comes in later in the evening. But enough praise for such a tranquil establishment
The Topic of Orange Wine...
As I sit back catching up on next week’s emails, I see the menu in front of me. Knowing it’s happy hour, I decide to sample something new.
I’ve tried orange wine in the past, and there are places where they serve bottles I long for. In a different setting, I decided to give Bar Bandini a try.
I asked for number 12:
An orange wine marked as Broc Cellars Trebbiano, made in Mendocino.
When sampling it, I was astonished. It was light and sweet, almost like a licorice juice made from orange cider vinegar. The lovely golden color it reflects onto the glass made me think—what makes orange wine different from red, white, and rosé? Are there benefits I haven’t looked into?
Orange wine is a type of white wine made using a similar method to red wine, where, instead of red grapes, white grapes are used in the process. Surprisingly, there is no involvement of oranges in this process.
The Benefits of Orange Wine include:
Antioxidants
Through the fermentation of white grapes, it's compounds such as: polyphenols, catechins, kaempferol, and resveratrol seep into the wine. This has 6xs more antioxidants than other white wine.
Reduced Risk of Heart Disease
Since Orange Wine contains more polyphenols than the standard wine, it was linked at a 32% rate to lower risk of heart disease.
Prevention of Mental Decline
Resveratol, an antioxidant that compacts against inflammation- aims to slow mental decline.
Protection for Metabolism
In a study, it was found that wine drinkers have a lower risk of metabolic sydrome than people who have low intake- or don't take alcohol.
Of course, all wine should be consumed in moderation, as there are just as many cons—such as addiction, weight gain, and liver disease.
That being said, for a simple evening- Bar Bandini is the place to sip some orange wine and enjoy ambiance.
